PROJECT PLANNER
Stage 1 - Preparing To Communicate Your Idea
* Clip pictures from magazines and other sources that contain design elements and features you like, such as, color, door style, size, shape, molding detail, etc. and lable each picture and compile a list of all the features you would like incorporated into your project.
* Have a full scale copy of your blue prints made. If you don't have blue prints, make a simple pencil sketch of the space where your project will go. Include rough measurements of all dimensions and locations of any fixed objects, such as, doors, windows, etc.
* Gather all dimensions of the appliances / electronics you have selected (i.e. dishwasher, refrigerator, stove, T.V., Blue Ray disc player, etc.)
* Have samples of your flooring, countertop, backsplash, paint color, fabric swatches, etc. that you have selected.
* Make a simple pencil sketch of your project. Include rough dimensions of the overall height, width and depth of your project.
* Make a list of everyone involved in your project and all their contact information (decision makers, contractors, design professionals, name, company name, address, phone numbers, fax number, e-mail address).
* DETERMINE YOUR BUDGET. We will need to know your budgetary requirements or constraints before we can proceed to the next stage. There is no practical benifit in us designing a $40,000 kitchen if your budget is $20,000, likewise, if your kitchen budget is $35,000 and we design an $18,000 kitchen we will fall way short of your expectations. Your budget should only contain the amount you have budgeted for the design, fabrication and installation of your custom woodwork project. Your budget should not include the amounts you have budgeted for countertops (granite), electrical, plumbing, flooring, appliances, etc.
* Once you have gathered as much of this information as possible you can proceed to Stage 2.
